How to play pocket Jacks in Texas Holdem?

We find pocket Jacks as our hole cards and want to inflate pot by playing aggressive pre-flop and win a big pot. How many times we have experienced the sweetness of our hole cards quickly turned sour by overplayed by an Ace, Kings or Queen on different streets. Even against an opponent who holds a smaller pocket pair gets that magical set on the flop. Undoubtedly pocket Jacks have great potential but can be extremely tricky, especially in multiway hands. There is no easy way to play a pair of Jacks because it depends on various factors such as table stacks, chip stacks, reading your opponents and blind structure. There is a 12% chance another player will be dealt with a higher pair. Approximately 40% of time pocket Jacks get busted, so you have about 60% chance of winning the pot.

Let's see equity of pocket Jacks on various tables:

10 Handed = 19%
9 Handed = 22%
8 Handed = 25%
7 Handed = 29%
6 Handed = 34%
5 Handed = 40%
4 Handed = 49%
3 Handed = 61%
2 Hand     = 78%

How to play pocket Jacks in tournaments?

Let's assume you are short stacked, 15 big blinds or under. You get pocket Jacks and raise from the button. Everybody folds to you except big blind who three-bets. Now, pocket Jacks are too strong hand to fold, and you do not have any choice here but shove all-in. Pocket Jacks by poker standard are the fourth best hand, so if your opponent has AA, KK or QQ he will definitely call. In tournaments players generally three-bets with AK, AQ and even K10s, so if you put all your chips you have an advantage of fold equity.

In tournaments, pocket Jacks can be a very good hand, especially in the mid-level. Based on the position, stack size and your opponent's bet sizing, you can put all your chips on the table considering the fact that in tourneys players are generally loose and the main intention is always to steal the pot. You can observe players raise heavily with hands like QJ, J10s, A10 and other speculative hands. As blinds increases, pocket Jacks can be a very useful hand to overplay all speculative hands.

Cash Game Strategy with Pocket Jacks

Irrespective of your position, you definitely need to raise the hand pre-flop. Generally, it is good to raise 3-4x the big blind. In a tight table, a pre-flop raise will definitely help to eliminate all speculative hands. Many poker players prefer to all-in with pocket Jacks. While the logic seems perfectly all right, it fails to take into account some fundamental concepts. All-in with a pair of Jacks is perfect play when you are short-stacked. However, when you are deep enough and playing with extreme players, it is worth considering to put all your chips on the table.

Pre-flop play is the most important thing when you have pocket Jacks. If you get a large re-raise, it means your opponent has some big pocket pairs or at least AKs or AQ. A pair of Jacks is difficult to fold, so if your stack allows, it is better to look for the flop. Suppose you raise pre-flop with a pair of Jacks and you get a re-raise from the button. You call and the flop comes 7-10-6. You bet the flop and you get another re-raise. It is now quite certain that your opponent has a better pair. In another scenario suppose your opponent is a small blind and after the flop, he bets a moderate amount. Now, you need to consider that your opponent has re-raised your bet pre-flop. It always happens the players who raise with AKs or AQ 80% of time protect their hand with a moderate C-bet. In this case, you need to raise the bet to protect your pair. It also helps to get the information whether your opponent has pocket Queens or a better hand.

Post Flop with Overcards

Catching a flop with overcards is quite easy to get away with your pair of Jacks. Nevertheless, overcard(s) does not mean you are beaten with your fourth best hand in poker. If you are playing heads-up, it is certainly a good strategy to go with a pot size continuation bet. You may lose a good amount but the continuation bet will serve the purpose of getting the perfect information. More often there are only two things happen; either you will get a re-raise or pick up the pot right there.

Conclusion

A pair of Jacks is a strong hand and tough to fold pre-flop even if you get a heavy re-raise. For a beginner, this pair is often the more troublesome, so they prefer to all-in with short-stack. The euphoria of getting pocket Jacks is short-lived, so it is significant how you play you preflop.

How Poker can be an independent job to manage travel finance?

Many professional poker players around the world call April 15, 2011, as Black Friday when the U.S federal government had charged some of the largest online poker sites with fraud and money laundering. You may think what is the relation between poker and travel? Just wait a bit; good things are usually slowly unfolding. Anyway, so, when the U.S government brought indictment charges against the founders of the world largest online poker websites, many professional pokers - some of them earn five digits earning, moved to Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, and some other far-flung places to salvage their accounts and keep playing. They soon built a poker community and worked during the day and met up at night and on weekends to party. Life suddenly turned into a location independent work with money flowing in with perks of varied experiences.
Location independent work ? is it real?

Now, probably you have got it why I have started the story with poker. Become location independent employee is a non-negotiable part of managing finance. These are false narratives because Those are extremely misleading stories and impossible, at least for a decent guy like I and you (I hope you are a decent guy like me). For long I fulfilled my travel objectives by doing freelance content writing, but not everybody has the required skill set to do high-paid content writing. For those who wish for long-term travel (a few months to a year), a steady income is unavoidable unless he or she is rich. However, the path to get a location independent work is stressful, frustrating and sometimes scary.

What options you have?

Options on paper are plenty, but practically there are a few things you can actually do. There are principally three common ways you can work without being present physically in a particular locale.

Create a passive income stream

It is the most important part of your process of earning while traveling. The planning should be started very early ? from the very beginning of your job when you start making money out of some sort of passive income such as freelance work, share trading, online selling, affiliate marketing on your website or blog, translation or language-related jobs, teaching online lessons, doing market research for companies, selling photographs and so on. Remember these are all one way or other passive sources of income unless you do it full-time. It is also advisable to take these jobs as a passive income source because you need to build a steady client base for your fulfill your future travel goal.

Convince your company/boss to allow you to work remotely

10 years back it was an impossible proposition, but now it is quite a feasible option to negotiate with your company or boss to let you work remotely. As my personal experience, I worked with a company for a year or so as? Work from Home? option and traveled different parts of the country and South East Asia. Of course, I was good at a job and created a good impression. Also, I negotiated on money part so that the company had more profit keeping me for the work with less pay than recruiting another person. The most important thing is to stay in a company for a few years and create a proposal that will clearly benefit the company.

Work remotely as a freelancer

That is the most common method to work without any fixed location. Freelance means you are hired for a particular job for different companies for different projects. For example, freelance developers or freelance graphic designers. However, you need to develop a skill and know how to sell the skill. Top freelance websites to look for are Upwork, Toptal, Freelancer, Cloudpeeps, etc.

Playing Poker

If you are good at poker or card games, you can try online poker playing in a variety of websites. Poker is lucrative and you can earn lots of money, even after giving 30% of government tax. Every day there are hundreds of tournaments going on in multiple poker sites, and you can start it from Rs. 100 to an unlimited amount. Needless to say, you must first go through free roll for months to understand the game and develop an interest in it. Poker is a skill based game, so don?t think it is pure gambling. There are lots of strategies involved, game plans, etc.

Playing poker for a living looks great but actually, it is a lot of hard work. There are number factors need to be considered before you take the decision of being a full-time poker player.

a) Variance is the greatest challenge in poker. There are times when downswings can decimate your bankroll. It is therefore important to understand the element of variance.

b) If you have difficulty assessing your win-rate, then you are not really ready for full-time poker. If you are win-rate ratio is higher than your downswing, your poker is a career is fine. If it is otherwise, you need to consider poker as an only earning source once again.

c) If you are playing poker for a living, you need to have a bankroll enough to take the downswings. The thumb rule of bankroll management in Texas Holdem is 25-40 buy-ins.

d) Finally, you need to have a strict discipline and consider it is a job. Make a scheduled time to play, play with stop-loss and have tremendous control over your emotions and compulsion.

Productivity v/s Procrastination

Believe me, traveling on the road is a tough job. It is frustrating when you see other travelers enjoy, drinking, chatting and you are in the middle of finishing a project. The pressure is probably more than office because you are a sort of mercenary and people who pay you never listen to your excuses. It is very important to maintain a routine on the road so that you never miss the work. Every new place brings some unique challenges to work, so you need an impeccable discipline. It sounds glamorous working from the road, but the reality is far from fantasy.

Important Tips for Working on Road

1. Carry multiple SIM cards
2. First, figure out when and how you work best
3. Create a productive playlist
4. Buy an international outlet adapter
5. Have a back-up plan for internet failure

Double Barreling in Texas Holdem? How to do it?

A game of decision making, poker is not about how you win the pot but to take the correct decision. There are lots of ammunition in this game of card, and one of which is double barreling when it is required. In one hand double barreling is profitable to quickly pick the pot, and on the other hand, poor decision making to double barrel may result in a significant hit to your chip stack.

Poker is a game where it is not always that best cards holder will only win the game but it can be won be aggression that compels the opponent to fold the best hand. The double barrel is a strategy or says a technique when you bluff or semi-bluff when you make a continuation bet on the flop, turn and sometimes on the river. A double barrel is a continuation bet even when you are connected with the board but you also assume your opponent has a weak or not connected hand, so you want to establish the strength.

What are double barrel boards?

Always remember you should double barrel only when your hold cards are good enough to gamble. For example, if you have a baby pocket pair, or say AJs, AK, pocket 9 or some relevant hands that you can play till the river, then only you should show your strength. The best boards for double barrel are dry flops such as rainbow flops with a higher card being a jack. You need to have so equity to do the barreling. It simply means you need to have overcards or on the turn or river, your hand has a significant chance to improve.

Another tricky way to double barrel is when you read on your opponent's cards is Ace high and an overcard comes on the turn. The position plays an important part in barreling. For example, suppose your opponent has A7 and you have pocket 5. Now, you raise the pot, all other folds except big blind who calls with A7. The flop comes 7,10,8. You bet and your opponent calls. A Queen comes on the turn and you continue with your barreling. If your opponent has a queen or at least a 10, he will call, otherwise, he will fold. If your opponent calls, it means you beat already.

A paired board is always a good time to double barrel. It also serves a dual purpose; first, you steal the pot from your opponent and you get enough information about whether your opponent has made a trip on the flop. In this type of situation, the most important thing to read your opponent is bet sizing. Also, it is important that how good your read on your opponent. If your opponent is a loose aggressive player, he will call any pocket pairs or even an overpair if he believes you are bluffing.

Why the position is important in double barreling?

As mentioned before your position is the most important thing to take a double barreling decision. Double barreling is effective in a heads up situation. Most of the time dry flops are likely to have missed both players. So, if you are in a position, and get a check on the flop, floating a double barrel is an effective strategy.

TIPS: There are players who are trap inducer. They limp with AK, pocket pairs, even with premium hands. So, if you get called on the turn, be alarmed. You might be re-raised on the river by your opponent. This is why bet sizing is so important aspect when you are bluffing, double barreling or betting for information.

Barreling against calling station

If you are playing against a calling station, barreling is not a good strategy. Double barreling is to steal the pot, and not to build the pot. You can only take the risk of double barreling against a calling station when you have a draw or overpair. In this situation, a delayed barreling is more effective than continuous bet. For example, you raise the pot, the calling station calls. The flop comes and continues to sell your story and obviously, your opponent will call. On the turn both checks and on the river, if you do not make the connection, make the delayed barreling. This will eliminate players who are playing for the draw or the calling the station who does not understand math and hoping to find his ?magical? the card on the streets.

Push-Fold Strategy in Poker

When to carry on?? When to let it go??

Poker is a game of Choices and each choice you make makes you?

Make your choices in such a way that it creates a huge impact on your bottom line and manipulates your opponents' mind and his game.

Push-Fold Strategy, also known as ' all-in or fold' is one such strategy which is easy to understand and easy to execute leading to high profits in Short-Stacked decks.

What is Push-Fold Strategy

Here you have to stick to only 2 options --- either All-in or Fold?.

By choosing? All-in? or fold at the right time, you are giving yourself a chance to re-live and a ground a strong foot in the tournament by not losing the valuable chips and make your double-ups counts.

When, Where, Why

While playing a tournament, when u land up in having 10 big blinds or less, and the blinds are rising, you can no longer risk to spend your chips on sting betting or by raising or matching in all odd bets. Thus here you should strategize and make full utilization of whatever is left with you.

How to strategize the right way

Sometimes easy and straight forward decisions lead us to a long way...
In order to survive, avoid confrontation.

If your opponent has already raised high bets on pre-flops or post flops then fold to avoid confrontation until and unless you have really strong cards in hand like pocket pairs (aces, kings, queens, jacks) or suited cards of the same color (ace-king, king-queen, queen-jack).

Advantages:

? You get a chance to save your blinds and antes.
? High probability of one or two opponents to get into a confrontation and with someone losing his entire stack.
? Thus, your chances of survival increases and opponents also get knocked out.

On the other side, you are having an average hand, you can actually decide to push all-in in pre-flops and double your chance of winning. With a high bet amount, there are high chances that most of the players will fold in pre-flop. In case all the opponent's fold, you get the blinds thus increasing your stack size. In case you are called in, you can get lucky enough to win the entire pot.
Always remember, more the opponents on the table playing, less are the chances of your winning.

Some points to ponder when applying this strategy:

? Be always the first player in the pot until n unless you have really strong cards and you want to be called in by your opponents.
? If your position is strong, it will be easy for you to knock out your opponents
? Do not take a risk until n unless you have strong winning hands.
? If your opponents are playing big stacks, or are into loose betting, constrict your shoving range.
? Call only when you have premium cards on high bets/blinds.
? Try and play with less number of opponents, less number of players, more chances of winning.

REMEMBER "We cannot change the cards that are dealt, but wise men play till the end and win at any odds".

How to make Money in Poker?

Poker is not a simple game as many people perceive. There are many hidden layers of complexity that make the game so interesting. People, who do not know that game, call it a game of luck. Nevertheless, professional poker players do not think it is principally a game of luck. In fact, on the contrary, they emphasize on analysis rather than luck. It is the reason there is no guarantee even top players are losing money on big stakes. Experience is essential but that's not enough because there are lots of skills required for gaining momentum the game.

Experience is important, but it is not enough. Understand various skill sets across many disciplines and mastery over it makes a good poker player. Once you have set up all puzzles together and start making money consistently.

1000x rule to control tilt

The trick is to imagine the same spot where you just lost while miles ahead of another player 1000 times and imagine all the money you would make in that spot. This is a psychological exercise that helps to remind players that poker is a long-run game and at the end of the day all need to do is a good decision.

Discipline to cope up with dead cards

In poker, it is impossible that a player always goes through a smooth run. The fact is, frequently players hit a spot where they cannot catch a hand or flop to save a life. Getting dead cards for hours is the most frustrating thing players have to deal with.

The first thing is to adopt a disciplinary routine when dead cards come in subsequent sessions. It is better to go with ABC poker rather than normal playing. To cope up with dead card syndrome, one should play the discipline game. First pick a narrow range, for example, A10 suited or pocket pairs. One should set a timer, say two hours. During the next two hours, fold absolutely everything but the range decided on.

Leave the game if angry, hungry or tired

This is a great tip because anger, hunger, and tiredness are three reasons that push a player to tilt. One of the most important things in poker is self-awareness because one has to identify when to stop and leave the game altogether. It is a common mistake to chase a lose and eventually fall into the trap of tilt.

Limit your bluffs when you have an edge

If you are fortunate enough to get a good edge on the table, then you should limit the number of times you try fancy plays and bluffs. In poker, weak players do not generally easily fold so bluffing when you have an edge could be a disaster. In the game where players are loose aggressive and you have an edge, do not bluff too often.

Don't believe in baby pairs

Most beginner players overplay pocket pairs. Certain pocket pairs such as 10s, 9s, 8s, 8s have inherent value, meaning that they have a lot of value without needing any help from a flop. Mostly, players have to play aggressively even flop is irrelevant to the hand. Baby pairs, smaller than 10s are much more problematic because the flop will have a direct effect on how you should play the hand.

How to deal with Poker Downswings?

Poker downswings are extremely demoralising, especially when you are doing everything according to books, no mischiefs, not taking chances on flips and everything that poker experts ask players to do. Any player who has played poker seriously for a considerable amount of time has to hit by a downswing. However, a good player knows how to deal with a downswing. Poker is a game of mind where your psychology affects your playing style, assessing your opponents and overall performance.

In some rare cases, players experience lengthy swings. It sometimes happens things are not working for more than ten long seasons and now you are suddenly asking questions about yourself. You start wondering whether you can really beat the game or it is just an illusion. It is actually you are just a few cards to get your rhythm back in the game. Now, the question is how to get back to those magical winning cards?

The answer is there is no magical way to get cards that fetch you some lucrative pots. Nevertheless, you can always control your mind and that will eventually help you overcome the mental block that you have acquired through a long streak of a bad patch.

Know your Variance

Understanding variance is the most important thing in poker. It is arguably the best way to keep your track noted down systematically. Without data, you just have a selective memory bias. If you have enough data and look down your past record carefully, you can understand where you run below EV in critical spots in cash table or tourneys.

Take your Time Off

Treat poker like a game. You play, you win, you lose but you should never be addicted to it. There are certain points when poker pros also do not want to look at it. That aversion is good because you will be surprised how much life you have apart from playing poker. Take a long break and think about what you can do apart from playing poker. This break is most essential when you are experiencing downswings.

Evaluate yourself very carefully

It is important to see things in perspective. Ask yourself some fundamental questions whether you are really such a good player or just an average who wants to tussle with pros in high stakes. Poker is not gambling that is why blackjack, roulette or any other casino games does not have any pros. If you are a good player and most of the time a winner, your downswing is just a stroke of short-term bad luck. In poker long-term skill is always ahead of short-term luck. Just control yourself and take a break!

Play at Lower Stakes

Downswings can crush your bankroll, so if you continuously play at higher stakes with a negative mental state, you are sure to torture yourself with more loses. It is always better to take a break but if are a compulsive player then it is a good way to down your playing stakes and grind. Sometimes it is difficult to play at lower stakes, especially if you are a high stake poker player. You will find more noobs, fishes and calling stations, but if you stick to your gameplay you will surely win back some money as well as your confidence.

Never Think about Recovery

The most important thing in poker is not to win pots but to take correct decisions. While playing a single hand or multiple hands think closely because that decision actually matters. The single decision will affect your bankroll and overall psychology. If you sit on the table with a stiff mindset to recover your lost money, it will never work. If are continuously thinking about recovery, DO NOT PLAY POKER. Take a break and sit with a calm mind to play.

Conclusion

Poker is a highly psychological game and filled with ego. The competitiveness is good but things go wrong when things are getting personal. The success of the mental side of the game demands lots of opposite reactions. We need to understand poker from an objective viewpoint. The ability to? let go? is the hallmark of life, same for poker.

Difference Between Online and In-Person Poker

With the mercurial rise of online poker, lots of cardroom players have shifted, if not permanently, from brick and mortar poker rooms to online rooms. Physical poker rooms have definitely more exciting because of its realistic feel. If you have tried one platform and not the other, or in a dilemma which venue to begin with, here are some major differences between online and in-person poker rooms.

The foremost advantage of online poker rooms is the versatility they offer. There are lots of real money poker career online much cheaper and accessible than in a real cardroom. It is possible to find lower Texas Holdem Games Online where you can hone your skills. Whereas lower stakes would never produce enough poker for brick and mortar cardrooms.

Online play is more convenient and less overhead than brick and mortar poker rooms. For a real cardroom, you must incur the travel cost, sometimes even out-of-town with expenditures required for airline, taxis, dining and overnight stay. At the tables, waitresses, dealers, and others expect a tip. All these expenses are extra in addition to the rake the casino takes for conducting the game. These expenses on your part constitute overhead before a profit is realized.

Psychologically, real cardrooms are difficult in terms of selection of games. The thumb rule of playing poker is to choose the right game based on your skill and bankroll. You need to choose the right betting limits with enough novice players to be profitable. You can find it easy on online platforms but at real cardrooms, it is difficult to find an ideal seat at a good game.

A good thing about online playing is that a player cannot violate conduct rules during play. It means you cannot play string bets, see other players cards, and show your cards to others. The poker software rigidly implemented all the rules of the game and conduct the game according to the game parameters. You can see the active players, how much money players have and how money is in the pot.

In the privacy of your home, you can take study many important things like calculating poker odds, study poker charts, and make notes as you play.

Playing poker in a real card room is a social thing. The atmosphere in the physical poker room with people chatting, observing, laughing makes it an enjoyable affair. Also, you can observe the physical mannerism and gesture of players and understand the possible tells. It is very difficult to observe tells in online poker, in that way brick and mortar poker is advantageous.

In live games, people are more eager to play more hands. It is because live poker is much slower and takes time to complete one game, so players are eager to play more hands. In the tournaments, you will observe players are often play big raises, especially in the initial stages of the tournaments.

Variance in brick and mortar game is brutal because of the slower pace of the game. Players who enter the pot want to extract maximum value, so the variance is higher than online poker.

Essentially both are same but there are certain aspects that create the difference between live and online poker. The transition is not so easy from online to live and vice versa, but things are simplified when you understand the difference and adapt to your setting.

Poker - a game of decision making under conditions of uncertainty

The fun part of Online Poker is when you play Holdem, you need to take precise decisions but with incomplete information. Poker is a game of variable but if we compare it with far dense, complex and infinite variable game such as such chess, you find it easier because you have the information. The fact is, chess is far more difficult than Poker because you have to think many levels deep to understand the implication of every move. The paradox of chess is, the more you go deep into the levels, and the more complicated the decisions become.

In Poker you also have to go deep in layers but with great uncertainty. In chess, your opponent's board is in front of you and there is only one opponent. Apparently, it makes thing easier. Moreover, there is no random element like Poker where players bluff or overbet to throw small stakeholders out of the table. In chess, the whole board in front of you and theoretically you make a perfect decision at each decision point. The only thing you don't know what your opponent is thinking.

Is Poker like chess? To a large extent yes. Suppose you are playing chess and you could only see only half of your opponents move. The difficult game of chess turns out to be far more complicated than ever before. Now imagine you are playing chess with all the complexity of decision-making with incomplete information. This is the most fundamental part of Poker when you have to take decisions under the condition of incomplete information.

Reduce uncertainty to take a more informed decision

There are principally two ways to make your decision easier. The first thing is to fold and opt out of the decision-making process. The fold is also an important part of the game because you need to understand when you are unable to take an informed decision and avoid any gamble. The second thing is to put all your chips and opt out from the decision making the process. All-in is a blunt instrument and without a strong conviction, its a dangerous instrument.

Our primary focus is to minimize our uncertainty to make our decision easier. Also, remember the best way to learn Pokerwhere multiple players are involved, is to take your decision in relation to your opponents.

Surprisingly, if you want to win games in Online Poker, forget about money making.  Money is not the goal of the game. It sounds strange but you can only make money if you play with a playing intention, and not to making money. You can earn lots of money if your goal-setting and decision-making, both are absolutely in sync with each other. If you set your goal to make money, you will lose eventually because you focus primarily on outcomes. Nevertheless, if you set your goal to make better decisions, it doesn't matter whether you lose a bad beat or you win a big pot, all that matters is the quality of your decisions. If you are not a gambler and take Poker as a long-term venture, your decision-making ability will make you an excellent player.

Decision-making factors in Poker

Power of position

When you are playing under the gun, your goal to reduce uncertainty is very slim. The problem with opening early is a total uncertainty and you are acting with the least amount of information of anyone at the table. This biggest decision-making disadvantage, therefore the power of position is undeniable.

Poker is a game of price negotiation, and when you go first, you surrender advantage. When you play from the button, you get the most information and make a more informed decision. If you play late, you can evaluate other players how they move their chips, the size of their bets and understand where you stand before you have to think about your own hand.

Raise or not to raise

A simple rule is, when you have a good hand, raise it. If you don't raise then what happens? Let's say you have KQ suited in late position and you limp into the pot. The small blind checks and big blindfolds. So, what you have learned about the small blind's hand. Basically nothing. Generally, in professional Poker playing, players don't check with strong hands like a pair of aces, or jacks or any premium hand. So, if you limp into a pot, you learn close to nothing about your opponent's hand because you don't force him to make a decision. That is not a good decision-making skill because if you don't know how to use your chips as information-extraction tools, your decision to limp will be a waste. Remember, not every time you will get premium hands, so use it wisely.

Decision making for professionals and amateurs

Some professionals vary their playing style in exactly the opposite way. At least its more mathematically correct because when you raise big with premium hands, you put the mathematical pressure where it belongs. According to a game-theory, if you have premium hands like pocket aces or pocket kings, it is better to open for five times the big blind.

Habits of Successful Poker Players

It happened in the summers of 1992, in the event of World Series of Poker, comeback kid Stu Ungar faced off against the then World Champion Mansour Matloubi in a series of $50,000 buy-in no-limit holdem heads freezeout events. On the final hand of the game, defending champion bluffed Ungar all-in for $32,000 on the river with a board of 3-3-7-K-Q. Ungar had 10-9, but he pondered for a few seconds and told Matloubi that he thought Matloubi had 4-5 or 5-6, and he was going to call that bet. Ultimately he won the pot and busted Matloubi, who in fact held exactly what Ungar predicted.

Stuart Ungar for many was the greatest poker player in the history of the game. Ungar left a legacy that has always loomed large at the World Series of Poker. However, the lifestyle and habits of this genius quickly defamed him both financially and socially. Most of the Ungar's winning at the poker tables were wasted on sports betting, horses and cocaine. Stu Ungar is probably the greatest example in poker how uncontrolled life, ill-habits, and indiscipline lifestyle quickly dissolved the glory and money vanished into thin air.

So, it is important to understand certain basic strategies for beginners who want to try their luck in poker rooms.

Selecting the right game
Online rooms give you the opportunity to look at the games, so take your time to read the table before you consider to play. Also, don’t play big buy in or blinds because as a beginner you don’t know the subtleties of the game, and more likely duped by seasoned players. Also, it is important to take into account of your own skills and level of understanding of the game. It is therefore important first study the game and finds an easier table where players are not aggressive.

Practice hard
If you play poker online, the best way to learn poker is to practice as much you can. Before playing real chips, it is required to play as much freeroll. Most of the online poker websites have freeroll where you can play. However, in freeroll players are not serious about betting and raising, so you won’t really understand the game properly. It is better to download a poker app where multiplayer options are there.
When you realize you have acquired self-discipline, ability to manage your emotions, critical thinking faculty, and ability to recognize the weakness of your opponents, it’s time to play for real chips.
It is not that you have to play for years before you can obtain the skill to be a professional. World Series of Poker winner Jerry Yang defeated many professionals with only two years of experience. It is significant to observe players.

Betting Tips
Every player has a personal mannerism, a certain pattern that he or she plays. If you understand you playing style of your opponent, you can win half of the battle. Nevertheless, poker is not a perfect science; it is a game of chance, so expect certain surprises.

Bluffing
The most exciting part of Texas Hold’em or as a matter of fact, all poker games is bluffing. Either you face cold bluffers or semi-bluffers who have moderate hands. Tight players often fold when any bluff plays on the table, and seasoned players take this opportunity to win pots. Bluffing is an important part of your psychology strategy but always prepare yourself for losing.

Play within a limited bankroll
As a novice player, you need to understand your limitations and play within a limited bankroll. A large bankroll is not an excuse for sloppy or loose playing. In many cases, players who start winning feel that they can afford to lose, and this is where they make the mistake. Also with a huge bankroll, you will be targeted by seasoned players.

Fold
Don’t be afraid to fold your hand. A new player always tends to play every hand and become an easy target for the seasoned professional.  If you have a poor hand, don’t wait for the river, fold it after pre-flop.

Be humble after winning
Poker is more psychological battle than a simple game. Don’t be aggressive after winning a big pot because within minutes you would lose that pot plus your bankroll very easily. Don’t show-off, be humble and if you lose, don’t afraid, be a graceful loser.

How to get success in multi-tabling in poker?

Online poker has transformed the dynamics of conventional poker game. Virtually players can play at any place without the need of brick and mortar poker rooms. Now, players can play as many games at the same time, only limited by their reaction time and ability to deal with loss as well as win in each table.

Multi-tabling is a revolutionary concept in poker where the opinion is divided. Some players feel it's wastage of time because their rationale is while playing multiple tables it is extremely difficult to focus on each decision. Some professional players take it to an extreme by playing more than 20 tables at once. Most online poker rooms have features that facilitate multi-tabling and there are methods that maximize your profits.

Methods of Multi-tabling

Two principle methods are tiling and stacking.

Tiling

Tiling is the most common method when players tile table windows so that they can arrange the tables adjacent to each other without overlapping. How many tables can fit onto your screen without overlapping depends on the size of the monitor and reaction time of a player. Some professional play on multiple monitors, but for amateurs a single monitor is sufficient.

Stacking

Stacking is the method generally used by players who play a very high number of poker tables simultaneously. Each table window is placed directly on top of the other windows so that they are positioned in the same general area of the monitor. Players who play at sit-n-goes are likely to use this method because the decisions in the games are more standardized and automatic.

Advantages:

  • Unless the monitor is very large, a player can play on more tables simultaneously with an option to increase the size of the tables.
  • The active tables will pop up in the same position each time so players don't need to move the mouse cursor across the screen for each decision.

Multi-tabling poker strategies and tips

Table selection is important

The primary thing to consider to learn to play texas holdem is the number of tables and which tables should be given more importance. Playing multi-tabling creates sort of auto-pilot mode. It means less or no focus on individual tables, and tend to make more mistakes on average.

When multi-tabling, players generally can't give their absolute best but because they are playing so many more hands, the probability of good hands is more and eventually more money in the long run. Selection of tables is therefore very important because if the table is too tight or tables occupied with a couple of loose aggressive players, it is better to choose other tables.

Multi-tabling is a slow process

Nobody runs before a walk!  Multi-tabling is not for beginners because it requires mastery over one table. Making decisions for multi-tables and that's also high stake tables overwhelm beginners. It is not at all recommended for new players for risk their money on multi-tables.
